Mayo runs from Achill and the Atlantic coast to the plains around Castlebar and Ballina, bordered by Galway, Roscommon and Sligo, and LocalJams holds 53 venues for it. Westport has the largest cluster with 15 venues on file, followed by Castlebar with 11, Ballina with nine, Ballyhaunis, Killala, Swinford and Achill. Around 65 gigs are listed over the coming months, two-thirds of them ticketed, and folk is the leading tag ahead of rock and country.
The TF Royal Theatre on the Old Westport Road in Castlebar is the busiest listed venue in Mayo by a wide margin, with 35 ticketed shows that open with Stephen Wilson Jr., a Zombie Cranberries tribute, The Rock Orchestra and the Boomtown Rats. Westport Town Hall carries Ralph McTell, John Spillane, ABBA Forever, Dan McCabe and The Greatest 80s Show, while McCarthys Bar on the North Mall lists The House Band every Monday at 8.30pm, the county's one standing weekly slot. In Ballina, The NCF Cultural Co-Op on Pearse Street runs Saturday nights through October and the Ballina Arts Centre lists an 80's Icon Show. Further out, the Cois Abhann Centre in Hollymount hosts the Annaly and Duntally ceili bands, Aras Inis Gluaire has Dan McCabe, and the Achill Island Hotel an American Country Show.
No free-entry gigs are flagged in Mayo at present and no pub trad session pattern appears in the data, though the ceili band nights in Hollymount are the most traditional listings in the county.
