A big city-centre bar in Cork with music on most nights and almost never a ticket, The Old Oak mixes a traditional session and a trad-and-dancing night early in the week with karaoke, brass bands and party covers acts later on. New York Brass Band, Tbl8 Brass Band, The Blaggards, The Papa Zitas and The Sigmas have all played, and Karaoke with Fitzies Magical Flute is a long-running regular. Starts are between 8pm and 10pm, and Sunday, Monday and Tuesday are the busiest nights for live music, which is unusual for a bar.
