Radisson Blu
Northgate Street, Athlone, Westmeath
The Radisson Blu on Northgate Street in Athlone hosts ticketed concerts in its function suite several times a year, mostly on Friday, Saturday or Sunday nights at 8pm. The booking is the touring Irish folk and country circuit: The High Kings, Dan McCabe, Mike Denver, Gearóid McCarthy and The Highstool Prophets have all played, with the odd bigger name such as Paul Young. Tickets are sold in advance, and it is a hotel ballroom rather than a dedicated venue, so the atmosphere is concert-with-a-drink rather than a sweaty club.
