Opium on Liberty Lane, off Camden Street in Dublin, is a late bar and club whose live room leans heavy: metal and hardcore tours are its bread and butter, with rock, hip-hop and Latin acts filling out the calendar. Eyehategod, Kublai Khan TX, Signs of the Swarm, Cold, Los Bitchos and Sobredosis de Soda have all played, alongside the odd Commitments-style soul revue. Gigs are ticketed and start early, usually 7pm or 7.30pm, and weekends are the busiest.
